Its core architecture consists of BEV (Bird’s Eye View) + Transformer and relies on the Dojo supercomputer for deep learning training.

On December 5, 2024, Tesla released FSD V13.2, introducing several groundbreaking upgrades:

- Parking Lot Autonomy: Drivers can activate FSD directly in parking lots without preset navigation, allowing the system to autonomously determine routes and drive.

- Intelligent Reversing & Three-Point Turns: The update enhances the vision-based reversing system, enabling automatic reversing and complex three-point turns for smarter parking.

- Full-Resolution Image Processing: With HW4.0 hardware, the system processes images at 36 frames per second, significantly improving environmental perception and decision-making efficiency.

- Robotaxi Readiness: The system now supports fleet-level dynamic navigation, laying the technical foundation for Tesla’s future autonomous taxi network (Robotaxi).

Huawei ADS 4.0: Multi-Sensor Fusion for High-Precision Navigation Without HD Maps

Unlike Tesla, Huawei’s ADS 4.0 adopts a multi-sensor fusion approach, leveraging the GOD (General Obstacle Detection) network and RCR (Road Cognition & Reasoning) technology to enable city navigation without relying on high-definition (HD) maps.

- GOD Network: Integrates lidar, millimeter-wave radar, and cameras to detect over 100 types of obstacles in real-time, from small manhole covers to irregularly shaped vehicles.

- RCR Reasoning: Derives lane markings and intersection structures using only standard navigation maps, allowing seamless driving in areas without HD map coverage.

- Low-Latency Ascend AI Chip: Ensures system response times below 100 milliseconds, enabling rapid decision-making when faced with sudden lane-cutting vehicles.

- Extreme Condition Adaptability: Operates stably in harsh conditions such as -35°C snow, heavy rain, and flooded roads, reducing braking distances by 20% compared to human drivers.

- 3D High-Precision Recognition: Nighttime perception is 300% better than vision-only solutions, and the system can construct clear 3D road models even in heavy rain.

- Smart Parking Garage Navigation: Supports memory-based navigation for up to five-level underground garages and automatic cross-floor driving up to 3 kilometers, with a 99% accuracy rate for precision parking.

Huawei ADS 4.0 has also received EU R155 autonomous driving regulatory certification, marking its readiness for entry into the European market.

FSD vs. ADS: Who Takes the Lead?

The key difference between Tesla’s FSD and Huawei’s ADS lies in their perception and decision-making systems:

- Tesla insists on a vision-only approach, using deep learning to mimic human driving behavior, though it may face challenges in complex lighting conditions.
